Club Quality Guarantee

The best sport clubs for children and young people in Finland are called 'the sealed clubs' (in Finnish: sinettiseurat). The seal, issued by the Finnish national sport organisation Valo ry, is the club's guarantee of quality. To date, the seal has been issued to over 600 clubs in different sports, also to numerous cross-country ski clubs.

The seal indicates that the work done among children and young people in the club is of high quality. The seal is only issued to clubs that fulfil the predetermined seal criteria. When evaluating a club,  attention is paid e.g. to the following:

  • the children and young people are appreciated and taken into account in the club operations,
  • everyone is able to participate in the club's activities according to their own abilities,
  • the club aims to succeed in competitions and has long-term plans for achieving this aim,
  • also the skiers not wanting to compete are provided with activities both entertaining and instructive.

Being a well-known concept both among the general public and decision-makers in Finland, the seal is a great merit for the clubs. The seal can be used e.g. for attracting new participants, corporate partners and funders. In addition, together with Valo ry, the Finnish Ski Association offers concrete help and support for the sealed clubs.
